Sustainably Stylish: Considered North Beach Faves

by North Beach

Sustainability is undeniably important, especially when it comes to fashion. More and more people are interested in buying clothes that not only look great, but also consider their environmental impact. There's a growing demand for sustainable fashion and we're proud to stock some fab considered brands including Patagonia, Afends, Wrangler and Crywolf (to name a few) - all of which use sustainable materials and methods to create their products. Read on to find out what makes each brand unique and why sustainability is so important to them.

Sustainability is at the heart of everything Patagonia does. As a company, they are constantly looking for ways to reduce their environmental impact - and one of those is through using recycled materials including fishing nets, carpets and other post-consumer waste, diverting them from landfill and into sweet gears for you to wear. 94% of their line now uses recycled materials, but that's not all from this G.O.A.T brand. Patagonia also support fair trade sewing, ensuring that their workers are paid fairly for their skills.

SHOP PATAGONIA

Afends' mantra is 'sustainability through innovation, action and positive change. Be defined by what you create, not what you destroy' - and boy do they practice what they preach. As a renewable resource, hemp takes as little as 90 days to cultivate, requires significantly less water than cotton and produces more fibre per acre. Hemp is also naturally resistant to pests and requires no herbicides or pesticides, making it a far more sustainable option than other fabrics. AND this wonder-fabric is antimicrobial and antibacterial, so there's less chance of whiffy 'pits while wearing this dope (pun intended) material.

SHOP AFENDS

Wrangler has been around since 1947 and is one of the most iconic denim brands in the world. In recent years, they've made a real commitment to sustainability, using more environmentally friendly methods to create their jeans. This includes using organic and BCI (Better Cotton Initiative) cotton as well as reduced water methods. BCI licensed farmers produce cotton in a way that decreases its environmental impact, improving water efficiency and soil health and BCI is also committed to improving labour standards for workers and the farming community.

SHOP WRANGLER

Last but not least is Crywolf - a kids brand with sustainability at its core. 92% of Crywolf's product range is made using recycled materials to help minimise textile waste and they are committed to supporting a circular fashion model by manufacturing high quality products designed to last. Sorry if you're anything but the first child, 'cause you'll be getting hand-me-downs of this all weather gear! When it comes to reviewing carbon footprint, every part of the journey counts. To minimise their impact, Crywolf even chooses sea transport over air. We love a kids brand that cares.

SHOP CRYWOLF

So there you have it, a snapshot of some of our fave considered brands at North Beach. We're all on a journey and every little bit counts, so the best thing you can do for a greener fashion future is let your wallet do the talking and support those companies that are having a crack at reducing pollution, emissions and waste. Sustainable fashion is the future and we're stoked to stock the brands that are a part of the movement.

Sustainably yours,

The North Beach Team x
